I was delighted once more to be joined by Lord Petre from Ingatestone Hall who regaled us today with news of another of his colourful ancestors. His chosen subject today was the 11th Lord Petre – WILLIAM HENRY FRANCES – who lived between 1793 and 1850. During the course of his years he became the first Lord Petre who was able to take his seat in the House of Lords but before that, whilst not himself on the battlefield at the Battle of Waterloo, his cousin reportedly managed to capture Napoleon’s favourite horse MARENGO.
Listen again to all that Lord Petre had to tell me by clicking on the link below: –
Later in the show we heard all about the restaurant voted to the top position, not only in Cardiff, but also in the whole of Wales. On top of that the restaurant is also in the UK top 10 places to eat. OK so nothing particularly unusual about that you may say – but this restaurant has more bars than most and not just bars you can order from – as this restaurant is inside Cardiff prison and run by the inmates. In spite of this they have beaten establishments run by celebrity chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver. Customers are full of praise for the “friendly and informative staff” who put other waiters to shame.
If you are thinking of going there, my only advice would be not to try and leave without paying otherwise you could be doing the washing up for a very long stretch!
