Having tried to scare us all half to death with all her recent stories of ghosts said to haunt various parts of Essex, Margaret Mills turned her attention to some folklore remedies for various ills that used to afflict communities. I have to say that in at least one case I rather feel that it might have been better to suffer the affliction rather than trying to effect the cure. We also heard about the man who, knowing little about wine, is probably regretting his decision to leave the choice to the wine waiter. As he didn’t have his reading glasses with him he asked the price and thought the bottle was going to cost him the equivalent of £23.70. Pretty pricey but not as pricey as it actually turned out to be – £2370! Next time choose the house red, perhaps!
See you again soon,
