On today’s show I was delighted to welcome CHARLES PHILLIPS who has just published THE STORY OF BILLERICAY. The book was 6 years in the writing and traces the town back to its earliest beginnings. Amongst the veritable treasure trove of information included in the book are accounts of some well documented items concerning the Peasants Revolt and the Pilgrim Fathers to some lesser known facts such as the murder of a policeman, PC Bamborough and a failed project to build a 7.3 mile canal through the town.
Listen again here to what Charles had to say and don’t forget that he’ll be in Billericay Library next Saturday morning (14th December) to sign copies of his book between 9:30 and 11am. Charles Phillips Interview
In the second hour of the show we learnt why there were some very red faces at a cinema in Florida. They were supposed to be screening the latest Disney release to a group of children but unfortunately hit a technical snag!
Right I’m off now. See you on Wednesday this week. Bob Simpson will be looking after things tomorrow.
