Phoenix FM once again hosted the festivities at Brentwood’s largest annual event, Lighting Up Brentwood. Thousands of people braved the cold to watch the switch on of the Christmas lights and there were large crowds during the day to enjoy the entertainment provided throughout the whole of the centre of Brentwood.
Rob Jelly and Tony Smith took over duties on the Main Stage and Bob Simpson and Bryan Powis were in charge of the entertainment in Crown Street. A number of other Phoenix FM presenters were on hand to help out the stages and ensure everyone appeared on time.
Those present at the switch on included the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mark Reed; Peter Linnecar, Minister of Churches Together in Brentwood; Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman and The Snowdog; Father Christmas; 7 year old James Malby from Ingatestone Primary School, the winner of the Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition, with his family; and Lynda Brown from Cooperative Funeralcare, Brentwood, the Event Sponsor.
And of course we took a ton of photos!
