Tugboat Interview

I was joined in the studio today by local comedian Tugboat. He told me how he got into stand up comedy (and how old he was when he could stand up) as well as the best and worse jokes he has heard. Click below to listen!

And as always on In The Mix here is the weeks celebrity gossip…

V Festival
We are still suffering the cold weather showing it is still winter time, but talk and preparations of who will be headlining summer festivals are happening already. One of the most local festivals to us if of Course the V Festival held in Chelmsford and two artists who are rumoured to be headlining is Beyonce and Kings of Leon. The fact they haven’t yet featured on any other festival line ups have made people think they will be at V.

Kings of Leon has headlined in the past, in 2010 and Beyonce has also headlined Glastonbury in 2011, so they are both experienced in being the big names and if these
rumours are true they will be hitting the V stages on the 17
th and 18th August and of course will also head to Staffordshire where V also takes place.
The full line up will be announced on Monday the 25th February and tickets will be able to be bought from the 1st March but you can go register for early bird tickets by going on the website.

Food Glorious  Food!
As we all know Simon Cowell’s main interest is in music, shown by the fact he has shows which search for it such as X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent but his new show which will début on Wednesday, shows an interest he has that we might not know he had.

It is entitled Food Glorious Food, and it’s pretty obvious to guess by the name what it is about but the format consists of a search for Britain’s best recipe and the winner will become able to buy in Marks and Spencer, and the chef behind it will also receive £20,000.

With all shows like this of course we need judges so the four taking part in this show are food writer Tom Parker Bowles, former MasterChef contestant Stacie Stewart, ex-MasterChef host Lloyd Grossman and vice-chairwoman of the WI Anne Harrison.

Carol Vordaman will be the host and Cowell has admitted that he ‘loves home cooking, which is one of the reason [he] wanted to make this show’. And it seems like he has a target audience in mind he states that “No-one can make roast potatoes like [his] mum and [he is] sure lots of people feel the same way about their family recipes.
He also added ‘This is not a show for snobs’.

Burke’s heading in One Direction
X Factor’s Alexandra Burke has been a bit quiet since the release of her last album in June 2012 but fans, do not worry because album number 3 is on its way and it is possible that it could feature fellow X Factor contestants, One Direction. When Alexandra was asked which act she would most like to collaborate with she said “One Direction – [as] it would nice to do something fun and young!”

Well it seems like she is currently having a lot of fun as she has explained that she is ‘definitely back in the studio [and she has] been recording in [her] home studio and have recorded material in the US.

“[She is] in regular communication with [her] fans and album number 3 will be full of surprises and [she] can’t wait until it is released for you guys to hear it!”
