Late Night Extra Friday 3rd August 2012

One week into the Olympics. I was joined on the phone by Gill Hopkins who lives near the Lee Valley White Water Centre to talk about all that had been happening there. She told us that over a mile away you could hear the crowd as team GB won a gold and silver. Susan and Ian e-mailed in following Andy Murray’s victory in the tennis semi-finals and we had the Bee Gees You win again. Request also tonight for Phyl and Derek in Enfield who had a track by Whitney Houston. Geoff and Catherine visiting from Somerset sparked a chat room debate about Essex driving. There was also a request from Michael for Christie and Ed for Phil Collins. Lee wanted something jolly as he was working, listening to us and watching the Olympics all at the same time! We had Girls Talk by Dave Edmunds. The news story that sparked most comment was about a town in the Ukraine that plans to get rid of all the pesky pigeons by getting them drunk on bread soaked in wine and then taking them and dumping them somewhere else! Artists featured included Alexander O’Neil, 10 cc (for Gill Hopkins) Paul Simon, Toto, Buffalo Springfield, Carrs, Mark Antione, Eagles and many more. See you next week, same time same channel, the mighty Phoenix98FM.
