Happy 1st Birthday to In The Mix!

Today I celebrated the fact In The Mix has been on Phoenix for a whole year!
I played some songs from artists and bands (local and famous) who I’ve interviewed over the year and also looked back on some of the celeb gossip I have reported on, which can be read below…

Megan Fox get’s married
Megan Fox tied the knot to 90210 actor Brian Austin Green, in Hawaii.

The couple got engaged in 2007 but Megan broke it off in 2009. However Brain proposed again, and she obviously said yes.
They got married in the Four Seasons Hotel and stayed in Hawaii for their Honeymoon.
It was a very small ceremony with only 6 guests there, not including Megan Fox’s parents! Therefore Brain’s 8 year old son gave Megan away.

Megan has said ‘I am more in love with him now than ever!’

Celebs Quit Twitter
From the 1st of December a few celebrities quit using Twitter!

However they did it for a good cause. Alicia Keys supports a charity called ‘Keep A Child Alive’ and the celebrities are stopping all tweets and the use of twitter to raise awareness for World AIDS Day, which was on the 1st, and to raise money for Alicia’s charity.

The Celebrities included Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Justin Bieber, Usher Serena Williams, Elijah Wood, Jennifer Hudson and Kim Kardashian.
A number of posters were made with the stars taking part in a coffin with ‘the name of the celeb is dead!’ written on it.

Underneath it said ‘So and So has scarified their digital life to give real life to millions of other affected by HIV aids in Africa and India. That means no more Facebook or Twitter until we buy their life back. Visit buylife.org 90999 to buy their life back now’

The amount of money raised was $1,139,111 and this can be seen on the website visit buylife.org.

Waxworks
A couple of Waxworks have been made over the year including Fashion expert Gok Wan. It was unveiled at the Liverpool One shopping centre and is one of the figures which was been made for the new branch for Madame Tussauds.
The Madame Tussauds Blackpool attraction opened on April 21st. It is the 12th branch to open around the world and the first in the UK outside London.

There were also 8 wax work models made of Lady Gaga.
There were many requests by fans for these models, so the team at Madame Tussauds decided to create a small army of Gaga’s in branches including London, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Germany.

The wax work in the London branch the Poker Face singer appears in a Philip Treacy Telephone hat and a custom-made Giorgio Armani midnight blue suit with a double-breasted jacket, pagoda-style shoulders and flared trousers.
A spokesperson for the German branch at the time said: “It was all over the world the same answer, we want Lady Gaga!”
The Lady Gaga waxworks cost £150,000 each to create, totalling £1.2million for all eight figures

Royal Wedding
One of the most celebrated events that happened this year was the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
On the 30th show of In The Mix I talked about the sale if Kate’s dress.
Back in 2002 Kate Middleton first caught the eye of Prince William at a charity fashion show at Saint Andrews University in Scotland. She was walking down the run way wearing a knitted transparent black dress, which has recently been sold for £78,000 in an auction on Thursday.

The buyer was a man who has refused to give his name but has said he bought it on behalf of someone he would identify only as “Nick from Jersey”.
The sale far exceeded the initial estimate of £10,000 by Kerry Taylor Auctions, as the dress only cost £30 to make! The auctioneer, said: “The sale did fantastically well and went above expectations throughout. I am delighted that the dress made a ‘princely sum’.”

The strapless dress was designed by Charlotte Todd, who was a fashion and textile design student in 2000 at the University of the West of England when she produced it for a project entitled “The Art of Seduction”.
She has said “I am totally speechless, and feel very emotional. I really didn’t think it would make that amount. I am planning to put some of the money towards a deposit for a house, but perhaps I may use some to change my career.”

The Guests I have had on the show since July 2010 and the name of their songs I played on In The Mix’s Birthday are:
