In The Mix – 8th January 2011

Happy New year!

I know it’s a few days into January now but this was the first In The Mix show of 2011 and it was a show bursting full of celeb gossip which can be read below.

Highest Hollywood Earners Of 2010.

An American magazine has made a list of the Highest Hollywood Earners Of 2010.

Beyonce came 9th in the list making her the highest earning Popstar having earned $87 million this year. For the 2nd year running TV host Oprah Winfrey topped Hollywood’s rich list in a having banked $315 million in the last 12 months. It was reported earlier this year that the self-made billionaire is leaving The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2011 to expand The Oprah Winfrey Network.

Avatar creator James Cameron was Hollywood’s second highest earner in 2010 netting $210 million which is more than $100 million behind Winfrey.

Matt Leblanc

Matt Leblanc who played Joey Tribbiani in the popular sitcom Friends and the spin off called Joey had a break of acting after playing the character for 12 years.

However he is back in a new show called Episodes where he will be playing a character called Matt Leblanc, who is the public perception of him rather than the real him.

Matt said that shooting Episodes was very different to Friends by saying “Making Friends was like being in a play. You’d rehearse all week, shoot on Friday nights in front of a live audience and you’d have to wait for the laughter to die down before you delivered the next line. Episodes is much more grounded in reality. To get back in front of the camera, say a punch line and not have a huge audience react, it was like (pretending to tap a microphone), ‘Hello, is this on?'”

He is still in touch with his old co stars, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, but he has he’s barely seen them.

He said “It’s weird, when Friends ended, everyone kind of scattered But then if you put six people in a building for 10 years with no windows and no one else to talk to and you open the door, they’re going to run away from each other.”

Episodes begins on BBC Two on Monday, January 10.

Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough

Rumours have been going around for a while now that Cheryl Cole and dancer Derek Hough are romantically linked, and they have always refused to confirm them.

However it seems now that they are ready to confirm it as the couple shared a public kiss on New Years Eve.

A source has said “Cheryl and Derek are together and don’t care who knows it. She wanted to spend New Year’s Eve with Derek because she sees her future with him. 2010 was the worst year of Cheryl’s life. But now she is looking forward to happier times with Derek.”

Cheryl certainly did have a tough year last year, she divorced football player husband Ashley Cole and battled potentially-fatal disease malaria, which she contracted during a trip to Africa with Derek.

Derek flew to Cape Town and attended the lavish New Year party thrown by American property mogul Preston Haskell.

Sources at the exclusive bash claim the pair couldn’t keep their hands off each other, with one saying: “It was so adorable to see Cheryl and Derek and how happy there were. If anyone didn’t believe they were a couple, the New Year’s Eve party proved they are. They only had eyes for each other and ignored everyone else.”

Cheryl, is set to move to LA this year after reportedly signing a deal to become a judge on the US version of ‘The X Factor’ and Derek is said to be thrilled as it means they will be spending more time together.

Eastenders

The recent cot death plot on Eastenders has caused much up roar over the past few weeks.

Characters Kat and Ronnie have been involved with a storyline that has become one of the most complained-about EastEnders storylines, with almost 6,000 complaints.

On New Year’s eve Ronnie lost her baby due to cot death and therefore swapped her baby with Kat’s, who also gave birth on New Year’s eve.

Actress Samantha Womack who plays Ronnie is now leaving the soap but has insisted it is not because of the controversial plot, as some rumours have said. Womack’s agent Michael Wiggs said: “There’s no truth whatsoever in any suggestion that Sam is ‘quitting’ EastEnders over the current storyline. Sam’s contract comes to a natural end later this year and she will be taking a break from the show. This has been agreed with the producers for several months. Sam has had an incredibly happy and fulfilling time on EastEnders over the last few years. She has huge respect for the show, writers and producers and has thoroughly enjoyed playing such a complex role that has been involved in so many tough and challenging storylines.”

Show bosses added viewers would “see the situation resolve itself over the coming months”. EastEnders executive producer Bryan Kirkwood said: “We appreciate this is a challenging storyline … We also provided actionline numbers at the end of each show, offering advice and support to those affected by the issues.”

And more recently it has been said that the storyline will be cut short due to the amount of complaints they had.

US People’s Choice Award

The US People’s Choice awards took place recently and Twilight was a big winner, taking home four prizes for favourite movie, drama, actress (being Kirsten Stewart) and on-screen team.

Katy Perry also picked up two award for favourite female and online sensation. She said “I’m so happy to be here, and I have had an incredible year and I’m really excited.”

Also taking home two trophies was musical television show Glee for favourite TV comedy and comedy actress for Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester.

Winner of best country artist was Taylor Swift, whose Speak Now album was one of the biggest sellers of 2010.
New father Sir Elton John presented the 21-year-old with her gong, and Taylor took the opportunity to congratulate him: “Wow. Elton, congratulations to you, you’re a dad now! It’s beautiful.”

Other Peoples Choice Awards went to Johnny Depp who won favourite movie actor for a second year running, Zac Efron who won a prize for favourite movie star under-25 and Adam Sandler won the award for favourite comedic star.

Organisers of the ceremony, which is totally fan-driven, say a record 175 million votes were cast for favourite stars of television, movies and music

Dancing on Ice

One of the most popular shows of ITV will be returning to our screen tomorrow night, which see’s a group of celebrities learning a new skill of ice skating taught by Torvill and Dean, wearing usually skin tight glittery clothes and performing with an expert in front of a panel of judges. Can you guess what it is yet?

It is of course dancing on ice!

Celebs taking part this year include Kerry Katona, Anglea Rippon, Vanilla Ice, Steven Arnold who played the late Ashely in Coronation Street and local celeb Jeff Brazier plus many more.

There are 16 stars in total and they need to be whittled down to 12. 8 contestants will skate on Sunday night at 6.30pm and the bottom 3 will perform again at 9.30 from which only 1 pair will survive.

The same thing will happen next week until there are the remaining 12.

The expert judges on hand to give the celebs advice are Emma Bunton, Jason Gardiner and Robin Cousins.

Sam Attwater, who was Leon in ‘EastEnders’, is the bookies’ fave; and kids’ TV presenter Laura Hamilton is also quite popular so if you want to see any of these stars on the ice, Dancing on Ice is on Sunday night at 6.30pm and 9.30pm.
