ABOUT TIME TO TALK

We all have mental health – how we think, feel, behave, and interact with other people. Problems can occurs when our thoughts, feelings and behaviour affect how we function with normal daily stresses. Mental health problems can affect us all to varying levels and do not discriminate. For mild or moderate conditions, often the first stage to improving mental health is to recognise the symptoms and talk to someone about ways to get help or help oneself – and supported access back into social activities in the community.

Having a mental health problem is hard enough, but sometimes the isolation and stigma can make it even worse.  But we can all help to break the silence. Talking about mental health doesn’t need to be difficult and can make a big difference. That’s why we’re asking you to take just 5 minutes on the 5th to have a conversation about mental health.

The purpose of this campaign is for people to feel comfortable talking about mental health and to try to reduce the stigma in society:

https://www.time-to-change.org.uk/timetotalkday

Today we will hear personal and professional stories from people with direct and indirect experiences of mental ill health, and from those that support them – with something as simple as a 5 minute conversation about how they are feeling.

We will hear about anxiety dogs, talking therapies, dementia friendly tea dances, mental health first aid training, and the award winning Fitness In Mind™ programme for better mental and physical wellbeing.
