A Brunch with some real meat (no horsemeat) and potatoes

Once again I was thrilled to sit in for MICHELLE WARD – for the first time on her brand new show EAT MY BRUNCH. The first shock to the system was the difference an hour makes and the time I had get up in order to get to the studio on time but once this had been overcome we had a great 3 hours of fun. As usual when I deputise for Michelle I looked at a couple of oddball stories retrieved from PHONIX FM’s department of weird and whacky news.

The first item concerned a prisoner in Sri Lanka who tried to smuggle a mobile phone into the prison by hiding it up his rear end. Unfortunately for him someone called him just as he was being examined. Clearly it was not a good time and the ringing tone alerted warders to what he was up to. You’d have thought this incident might have distorted his ring!

Next up was the tale of a couple of pensioners married for 50 years, who are attempting to beat the record for the world’s longest snog. The present record stands at 50 hours 25 minutes and 1 second. Personally I think they stand a good chance especially if their false teeth get stuck together.

But now to serious stuff. I was joined by business guru, Gill Tiney who has just published a book directed towards the business community. The book, “STEP UP From Desperation to Inspiration in 12 Simple Steps” is aimed at those in the business community who want to get one step ahead of their competitors. Now Gill is no novice to the world of commerce having started her own business more than 22 years ago. Gill is the area director of Business Network International, helps companies by coaching, workshops, bespoke training and speaking. Gill has just won a prestigious award in the USA for her work, which was presented at a major event attended by ex President Bill Clinton. So it is well worth listening to what Gill has to say!

In her book Gill invites readers to picture their potential, ask themselves what they want to do and consider how they are going to achieve their goals. Two crucial bits of advice were to make every second of your time count and the importance of building and maintaining your credibility . Gill’s book is available from Amazon or from her own website www.stepstosuccess.eu at £12.99. If you belong to Essex Event Net you will know that Gill will be addressing them on 27th February. The next BNI Skills Workshop is on 4th March and Gill will be at Colchester Football Club on the 6th March where she will be talking on a pet subject of hers, networking. Listen again to what Gill had to tell me right here: –  [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Gill-Tiney-Interview.mp3|titles=Gill Tiney Interview]

Michelle will be back in situ tomorrow with a brand new question of the day.

Meantime I’ll see you soon.
