An unwelcome shock

On today’s show we heard about the surprise that awaited a recently married man in Indonesia.

Yes he was understandably shocked and amazed to discover that his “bride” of 12 days, who he knew as Adina, was actually a man.

Perhaps they were unusually shy!

Nevertheless it would come as a bit of a surprise, wouldn’t it?

The groom who went by the name AK, met his “bride” on the internet last year – perhaps a warning there about the risks of on-line dating – and the couple started dating.

Indeed they only met face-to-face occasionally, and when they did meet, his intended always wore the Muslim Niqab, which he put down to her strong religious beliefs.

In spite of everything they decided to tie the knot and hosted an intimate ceremony at AK’s home after his “bride-to-be” told him that she didn’t have any family.

Maybe his suspicions were aroused by her unwillingness to become involved in any intimacy, that finally decided him to do a bit of investigation, which ultimately revealed that the parents of the “bride” were indeed alive and well and living at her former address.

The parents then revealed that she was actually a “HE” known as ESH, who it seems had begun cross dressing in 2020.

However they were unaware that their “son” was in a relationship, let alone married.

The matter was subsequently reported to police by AK’s parents who asserted that the so-called “bride” had gone through the marriage ceremony in order to steal the family assets.

The  police were also initially taken in by the “bride’s” appearance confirming that in the wedding photos, ADINA did indeed appear female and that she also appeared to speak with a female voice with a gentle tone.

Well Adina or ESH, is now facing charges for fraud which could result in a 4-year term behind bars.

He/she had better watch out in the showers!

In the second hour of today’s programme, and being a Tuesday, I was as usual joined by Margaret Mills who took us back to school.

This is no ordinary school but one founded in 1588 by Lady Joyce Frankland.

The school is based in Newport near Saffron Walden and you can hear the history of this establishment from Margaret herself, here: –

I very much hope to have the pleasure of your company again next week,
