Great Wakering Rovers progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Vase with a last-gasp 3-2 victory at Highworth Town.

The tie was set to be played last weekend but had to be postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Marcus Bowers’ side got off to the best possible start with Kingdom Dawson’s third-minute opener before they were pegged back 30 minutes later courtesy of Sol Pryce from the spot. Rovers regained their one-goal cushion just before the break thanks to Harry Talbot.

The second half had a similar amount of drama as Pryce netted his second by drawing level with a 30-yard screamer on 75 minutes. Perry Dunn was the hero for Great Wakering with his header in the fifth minute of additional time.

The Essex Senior League side have had to get past Basildon Town, Buckhurst Hill, St Neots Town, Downham Town,  Fakenham Town and Whitchurch Alport and they are now only a few games away from the final at Wembley Stadium.

Great Wakering now host Falmouth Town at Burroughs Park on Saturday 9th March.
