Three Essex sides were in Isuzu FA Trophy and FA Vase action yesterday with Aveley, Tilbury and Romford all featuring.
The Millers made the trip to Vanarama National League side Bromley, the highest-ranked side left in the competition and currently sit in second place, and fell to a 2-0 defeat. After matching the Ravens for the opening 45 minutes, two goals from Michael Cheek and Louis Dennis did the damage as Danny Scopes’ side were knocked out in the fifth round.
Tilbury hosted North Greenford United in the round of 16 of the FA Vase and following a 0-0 draw, penalties were required. Igli Metalia hit the post for the Dockers which meant the Essex Senior League high-flyers exited the competition.
Romford on the other hand progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Vase thanks to a 3-1 win at Hilltop. Great Wakering Rovers’ trip to Highworth Town was postponed after failing a pitch inspection and will now take place on Saturday.
