Southend United have completed the signing of Vanarama National League North joint-top goalscorer Danny Waldron from Rushall Olympic.
The 27-year-old arrives at Roots Hall on a one-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Waldron had spent the first half of the season with Rushall where he scored 16 goals in 25 league appearances after only moving to Dales Lane in the summer.
Before his spell with the Pics, Waldron had plied his trade at Alvechurch of the Isthmian Southern League Premier Central Division. He made a name for himself after scoring a brace in their shock 2-1 victory over Sky Bet League Two side Cheltenham Town in the Emirates FA Cup first round in 2022.
This is Waldron’s first step into full-time football and the deal has been in the pipeline for a number of weeks with rumours spreading on social media.

Speaking to the Southend’s YouTube channel on the move, the ex-Leamington striker is looking forward to being a Shrimper.
“I’m pleased to get it over the line, it’s exciting times,” he said.
“I’ve been working alongside playing for Rushall so I’m glad it’s finally done and I’m just looking forward to getting to training, getting to know the lads and playing games.
“I saw all sorts of rumours going around in November but I didn’t know anything about it and then my agent messaged me around Boxing Day and since then, it’s been ongoing talks to try and get it sorted.”
Waldron could have had his chance to make his debut this afternoon but Southend’s home clash with Altrincham has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
