Canvey Island have completed the signing of prolific goal-scorer Sam Higgins, with the striker most recently being at Isthmian Premier Division table-toppers Hornchurch.
Before his spell at Bridge Avenue, the 34-year-old had plied his trade at fellow Essex sides East Thurrock United, Chelmsford City and Concord Rangers.
Higgins signed for Hornchurch in the 2020/21 campaign where he quickly asserted himself in a very successful Urchins side, reaching two Isthmian Premier Division play-offs finals and lifting the FA Trophy.
Last term, he notched 35 goals as Hornchurch narrowly missed out on promotion via the play-offs following a defeat in the final to Aveley.
Higgins has made nine appearances this season and has netted on four occasions as Steve Morison’s side occupy first place and yet to pick up a defeat in the league after 17 games.
On the addition, Canvey Island said: ‘Higgins needs little introduction to those who follow football at this level, and his records speak for them self in an award studded career that has seen him score over 300 goals.’
The Gulls currently sit in ninth place and host Folkestone Invicta at The Movie Starr Stadium on Saturday.
