A flying legend

Back in August I got to chat with our old friend JULIAN MAY, who’d previously visited us as one of the members of RICH CLIFFORD AND THE YOUNG ONCE.

On that occasion he was joined by ANGELA GARDNER and JON GREAVES along with BETH PRATT, as THE REMEDY when they came in to talk about a song they had prepared and recorded to celebrate the LONDON MARATHON.

Well today I was joined by an offshoot of THE REMEDY, and for that matter STUCK IN THE MIDDLE, JON GREAVES and ANGELA GARNER, who together are known as THE DENGIE DUO.

As part of an album – Fun Flight and Music which was released 5 years ago, they recorded a song about the pioneering flying legend,  AMY JOHNSON.

Listen here to find out what prompted them to write the song and a bit more about AMY JOHNSON herself: –

In the second hour of today’s programme we reported on a tenant who actually had the nerve to try and sell his landlord’s house for over £400k just 2 weeks after being handed the keys to the property.

41-year old Andrew Smith had originally told the landlord that he was moving to Cambridge for work but then promptly listed the property for sale with a fake agent. In fact things moved quite quickly with a potential buyer getting as far as agreeing a price with Smith after visiting the property with a drainage surveyor.

Things started to unravel after neighbours told the prospective purchaser that the 3-bedroom property was being rented by Smith. The buyer then located the actual renting agency with whom he spoke as well as alerting police.

It subsequently became clear that the documents Smith had provided to the purchaser were fraudulent.

It was also discovered that shortly after moving into the property, Smith had made payments to a furniture rental property who provide furniture for show properties.

Smith was eventually located in Bedford where he was eventually arrested for fraud and money laundering.

The cheek of it is simply staggering!

Anyway all being well I hope to have the pleasure of your company again tomorrow,
Scott
