Possibly THE greatest escape artist ever!

On today’s show we reported on a man who just maybe the greatest escape artist of all time, having at one time posted himself out of a US jail!

Yes convicted of shooting 2 men during a robbery that went wrong, RICHARD LEE McNAIR was sentenced to 30 years behind bars.

First off he he escaped through a ventilation duct at his first jail and managed to maintain his freedom for 10 months before being re-captured and transferred to the United States Penitentiary in Pollock, Louisiana.

Whilst there he got a job fixing broken mail bags, when he struck on the idea of posting himself out.

After creating a hole small enough for a breathing straw in one of the bags and shipping himself to a storage facility, he then bided his time until the workers were on lunch before finding freedom once more.

Although he was stopped by police as he made his way out, he claimed that he was running because he was actually out on a jog and got away with it.

He went on to use a number of fake names during the year and a half that he was free and even went so as to send Christmas cards to the jail he was supposed to be locked up in.

He even used the name of prison warden Tim Schuetzle when buying a phone, and later sent him a Christmas card and notes while on the run.

Well I guess nothing lasts forever and he was finally captured again  when he was found living in a stolen van.

He is now residing in a super maximum security prison, ADX Florence, from which he has so far been unable to escape.

He has described his new home as the ‘most secure section of the most secure prison in the world’.

No easy way out this time!

We also looked at a very strange wedding that took place just a week ago.

If you’re a ghoul I guess that getting married on Halloween would be your date of choice and so it was for a ghost named Eduardo, a former Victorian soldier, who allegedly tied the knot at an asylum chapel with BROCARDE, a 38-year old singer from Oxfordshire.

Indeed Halloween is like Valentines Day for spirits so for Eduardo its the most romantic day of the year.

To celebrate the nuptials BROCARDE filled the room with candles and roses and sung the song she wrote for the occasion – HAUNTED.

Apparently the pair became an item during the pandemic, although the romance has not been all plain sailing as Eduardo allegedly gets very angry if he spots Brocarde’s skimpiest outfits. It seems that women behaved differently in the Victorian age and so anything too revealing sets him off, but not in the way one might expect.

Interviewed on their wedding day on “THIS MORNING” by Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, Brocade, appeared wearing her black wedding dress, however the interview was interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Eduardo, who objected to details of their romance being revealed on TV and through Brocarde said he didn’t like Philip Scofield, to which the presenter replied, that he was fine with that since he was not marrying him!

Wonder what they drank to celebrate the occasion – plenty of spirits I guess.

Hope to see you again tomorrow,
Scott
