There’s a terrible smell in the air!

Being a Tuesday I was once again joined by Margaret Mills for her regular historical feature but first off, we investigated the cause for a nasty smell in the air.

To my mind this story defies belief, but is apparently true.

A flight from Heathrow to Lagos was delayed from taking off after a passenger took a dump on the floor of the galley.

But even after this he still wasn’t finished as he then sat in his offering, smeared it on his arms before running amok down the aisle, treading it into the carpet and smearing the seats and curtains.

The flight was delayed for 3 hours before passengers, presumably without the party pooper, were transferred to another plane.

It’s unclear whether the miscreant was charged with any offence.

But it seems that this wasn’t the first time this year that British Airways have encountered a problem with poo, as back in March a flight from Heathrow to Dubai was forced to turn back due to a very pungent odour being emitted emitting from one of the toilets.

Sounds like a bum deal to me!

Extraordinary!

As mentioned earlier Margaret Mills looked back today on the rather unsuccessful piece of equipment designed and built by Wickford industrialist, Thomas Churchman Darby.

Unfortunately due to a number of factors, not least the high cost of production and the reported unreliability of the product, it never achieved its potential.

Indeed only about 50 units were ever made

Listen again here to what Margaret had to say on this subject: –

I look forward to having your company again next week,
Scott
