Greg hopes to follow in footsteps of some of our presenters

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

Normally we’re just happy doing our own little thing here in Brentwood and we don’t have any particular plans for world domination laid out.

So it’s nice when national TV notices what we’re doing and decides to get in on our programming too.

Over the last couple of months we’ve been talking to ITV, and in particular Greg Shepherd, who stars in ITVbe’s new show “Billie & Greg: The Family Diaries”.

Greg is hoping to follow in the footsteps of some of our other presenters who have gone on to national radio and TV, such as Sonny Jay, who spent two years with us presenting a Thursday night show before Capital Radio snapped him up for their breakfast show.

We’ve got a long track history of training up people who’ve never done radio before, whether they’re celebrities or, at the other end of the scale, people with my level of celebrity.

I put Greg in touch with Tony Smith, who’s been presenting our upbeat Sunday Lunch show since 2011.

Greg has been coming in on air with Tony recently to see what it’s like to present a show, learning the equipment and computers.

He’s also been promoting the show on his Instagram too which is great because it’s put our station in front of another 546,000 people, who will hopefully be tuning when Greg does finally take to the airwaves.

We’re looking forward to seeing more of Phoenix FM on Billie and Greg’s show – and you can always tune in to Tony every Sunday at midday because it’s a great show whether Greg’s there or not!
