Stewart moves from nights to days as our new daytime presenter

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette – although he did not write the very inaccurate headline!

After a year of almost complete stability it’s all change on the Phoenix FM schedule again.

Stewart Pink has vacated his Friday afternoon slot as he is now on five days a week presenting Drive Time – and this has allowed Patrick Sherring to join the daytime team after nearly 10 years on Friday nights!

Patrick’s popular Friday Night Extra show has been broadcast on Phoenix FM every week since September 2011 and in that time he has featured hundreds of guests on air.

As Patrick has been vicar at Ingatestone and Fryerning for many years, he regularly features faith-based articles and guests on air which have gone down very well with our listeners whether they are particularly religious or not.

But he has a real ear and eye on what is happening in our local community and also features news and views from local charities and community groups set up to help those in need.

And, like all Phoenix FM presenters, he has a varied and eclectic music taste, playing everything from Dusty Springfield to David Bowie to Coldplay.

One of his last Friday night interviews was with Julia Lacey from the Church of Ascension with All Saints in Chelmsford. Julia has just been ordained as a priest and talked about her journey to this point in her life, including her very unusual training and her first year as deacon at her church in Chelmsford.

You can hear Patrick’s new show on Friday at 1pm and all of his interviews are online at phoenixfm.com.
