If you tuned into last Friday’s show we went back to the beginning of Motown. We explored the artists, some early classic songs and picked out a few from the 100’s of hit tracks produced in the Motown sound along the way.
From very humble beginnings the label grew to mass appeal across many aspects of society at the time from both the US and here in the UK. We also looked at the diversifying of the label which branched out into film and TV.
Unfortunately the label did not stand the test of time. But the music produced still stands out as some of the best ever, with many tracks providing the basis and inspiration for other great bands – in other genres up until the present day.
