No one should be homeless in 21st century Britain!

I was joined today by ROB SAGGS, the Chief Executive Officer of CHESS, the Chelmsford based charity which was established to relieve the issues resulting from homelessness.

I started out by asking Rob to outline just who and what CHESS is, how it came into being and what it does.

To better illustrate what CHESS attempts to do, Rob talked us through one particular case in which CHESS had been heavily involved.

You can listen again here to what Rob had to tell me: –

To find out more about what CHESS does take a look at their website https://chesshomeless.org/.

In the second hour of today’s programme, we looked at the Adult Learning Course being offered by one council which offers students practical demonstrations, power point lectures and group discussions on how to wear shoes, belts, bags, jewellery and scarves.

The course has attracted criticism from some who argued that anyone who needed lessons on how to put on shoes and belts, was probably beyond help, but the council concerned says the course is designed to be a fun, sociable morning intended to help people to build their confidence!

I’ll see you again tomorrow,
Scott
