Now that’s what I call a diversion!

I guess that the seemingly never ending number of diversions we all encounter caused by roadworks is a constant source of irritation to all drivers, but spare a thought for drivers facing a 41 mile diversion in Dorset resulting from a 20 metre stretch of roadworks affecting the village of Godmanstone on the A352.

Yes, that’s right a 41 mile diversion for roadworks that stretch a mere 20 metres.

Of course local residents are able to use back roads to get round the obstruction but drivers of larger vehicles, or people unfamiliar with the area, are be stuck with the diversion that will take an hour, or even longer to complete at busy times.

The diversion will even take drivers across the county border into Yeovil in Somerset.

Dorset County Council says that the official diversion has to be suitable for the type of traffic which would normally used the closed section.
