A Law Unto Myself

In the first hour of today’s show we got to talk to our legal oracle, BRIAN HUGHES but rather than quizzing him about legal issues, we had the chance to learn more about the man himself as Brian has just written a book.

Brian’s new masterpiece is called appropriately, “A LAW UNTO MYSELF”.

Although by virtue of the title, you could be forgiven for thinking that the book is all about Brian’s experiences as a solicitor, whilst there are references to his work in the legal sphere, there’s a lot more besides.

Actually the book is to all intents and purposes, an autobiography and exposes a whole new “Brian”.

The book is full of humour including as it does, details of the practical jokes for which it seems Brian was renowned in his formative years.

Before Brian became a solicitor and set up his own legal practices, incredibly he was in Military Intelligence, ran his own travel agency, stood for election, even coming close to unseating a well known sitting member of parliament, and worked alongside many illustrious Peers and Peeresses and that’s even without mentioning his renowned first cousin, Dudley Moore!

I was particularly interested to talk with Brian about the amazing number of paranormal instances he’s experienced, from haunted houses to possessed beds – to mention just two which are detailed in his book, and how these and other matters that have influenced Brian’s view of the world, and indeed life in general.

Listen here to what Brian told me today:-

Brian’s book would I think make an ideal and unusual Christmas gift for the more discriminating and discerning reader, and is available from Waterstones, Amazon and no doubt all good bookshops and is priced at £8.99 with the hardback version priced at £16.99.

The title again is “A LAW UNTO MYSELF”

In the second hour of today’s show we heard about a man who could probably use the services of a good lawyer, having decided to embark on a bank robbery the day before his wedding in order to pay for the venue and a ring.

Yes, 36-year old Heath Bumpous needed cash to pay for the ceremony so on the day before he was due to get wed, he robbed the local bank.

Incredibly he then left the stolen cash after his fiancé called to tell him that police had just posted stills of his hold up on Facebook.

She then persuaded him to turn himself in.

He subsequently told police that he didn’t have enough money for the wedding ring or venue.  As a result will now be charged with aggravated robbery.

Doesn’t look like the wedding will take place any time soon!

I’ll see you again tomorrow,
Scott
