Theatre and opera groups are given a well-deserved bow

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

It was jazz hands-arama in the Phoenix FM studio this week when Jake Hunter brought in not one, but two of the extremely talented groups he’s involved in.

Jake is a regular visitor to Naomi Sayers’ Feelgood Saturday show which broadcasts at 10am every Saturday morning. Naomi regularly features some of the many gifted thespians we have in our area.

First up were Jess and Jamie from BOSSY – the Brentwood-based Youth Theatre Group who have talent to spare! They’re doing Legally Blonde for their next venture in November, at the Brentwood Theatre.

Then came Anita and Caroline from Benfleet Operatic Society – whose production of Fiddler on the Roof is a contrast to the froth and energy of Legally Blonde, but no less entertaining…

You can hear the interviews again at phoenixfm.com.

** Plenty more guests coming up on air over the next seven days. Brian Hughes from Shenfield solicitors Rainer Hughes will be talking to Scott Ross about business partnerships, and Tony Knowles, head coach with Brentwood Rugby Club will be joining Dave Chitty on Phoenix Sport.

** There will also be live music in the studio from The Round Window, Steve Hooker and Charlotte Ambrose.

** Phoenix FM is hosting its first fundraising fun casino evening on Friday 9th August at the Society of Old Brentwoods in Ashwells Road, Brentwood. The evening is put on with association with Rainer Hughes, Funky Casinos and Globexpert and we will be hosting an auction and raffle as well as live music from Michelle Ward. Tickets are available from phoenixfm.com.
