CLARETS TRAVEL TO THE U’S IN ESSEX SENIOR CUP
Senior and Women’s Cup Quarter-Finals Drawn as Billericay Face Fellow Isthmian Premier Side Harlow
Sky Bet Football League Two club Colchester United will host holders and Vanarama South challengers Chelmsford City in the Quarter-Finals of the Essex Senior Cup after the draw was completed on Wednesday.
The Clarets, who lifted the cup in March at the home of The U’s following a slender victory over East Thurrock United, now head back to the Weston Homes Community Stadium on or before 13th January. Their opponents in that final now entertain Concord Rangers, who claimed the trophy three seasons in a row from 2014 to 2016.
All eight remaining teams have an eye on this season’s final, which will again take place at the Community Stadium in March. They include Bostik Premier club Billericay Town, winners of the competition in 1976 and 2011, and they’ll welcome divisional rivals Harlow Town in the last eight. The Hawks collected the cup in 1979.
Elsewhere, Bostik North Romford, who have four Senior Cup titles to their name, face another club from their division in Grays Athletic, victors over Dagenham & Redbridge.
Meanwhile, the draw for the Quarter-Finals of the Essex Women’s Cup has also been drawn. These eight clubs were equally within touching distance of this season’s final, which will take place in March at Aveley FC’s brand new Parkside Stadium. Holders C & K Basildon joined four other seeded teams and were drawn against Colchester Town.
