Former England International joins the Blues

Click here to listen to Paul Konchesky and Glenn Tamplin:

Former West Ham, Liverpool and England defender Paul Konchesky has signed for Billericay Town.

Paul Konchesky

35-year-old Konchesky, who has two England caps, has roots in the area, playing for Great Danes in Brentwood as a junior. He has signed a year contract with an option for a second team.

Konchesky went on to play 621 games for a variety of league clubs, including the 2006 FA Cup final and the 2010 Europa League final with Fulham.

He told us why he’d decided to drop down four divisions and what his hopes and expectations are for the future.

Billericay Town FC Glenn Tamplin also spoke to us about Paul’s arrival, and the departure of Billericay Town manager Craig Edwards, which was also announced this evening.

You can hear the interview at the audio link at the top of this page.

Billericay’s next game is away to Harlow on Saturday; they are currently 10th in the Ryman League Premier, nine points from a play off place.

Paul Konchesky will be in the Phoenix FM studio for the next edition of the West Ham Way, on Wednesday 8 March at 7pm.
