It was a real pleasure to welcome Tom Hingley back to Phoenix FM!
Tom was the lead vocalist of Inspiral Carpets from 1989 until 2011, enojying three top 10 albums and nine top 40 singles in the UK.
He’s also released a number of albums, both solo and with former band The Lovers.
Tom is now back and releasing his first single unde the Tom Hingley Band name with fellow musicians Ste Pearce and Malcolm Law. “Beggar’s Hand” will be released on this year’s Record Store Day (Saturday 16 April) and the band are donating all proceeds to two charities – LifeShare and Hop Fest – who help the homeless popluation of Manchester and Liverpool.
He spoke to Michelle about the reasons behind recording the single and his current work with the new band. We were also treated to acoustic versions of three songs, which you can see again below:
You can keep up to date on Tom’s official website at tomhingley.co.uk where you can not only hear and buy his music, but also buy his beer, Tom Hingley’s Bitter, too!
