‘Til the ceremony do us part!

Whilst sitting in for the one and only Michelle Ward today, we looked at not one, but three recent wedding disasters. The first two were in India and the final one in China. The common denominator was that they were all “arranged” marriages so the couples had never met ahead of the intended nuptials.

Wedding disasters

In the first instance it seems that the groom’s family had deliberately withheld the fact that their son was epileptic so when he had a fit in the middle of the ceremony, so did his intended. Whilst he was being treated at the hospital his bride married one of the guests!

Next came news of the bride who, after becoming suspicious that her husband to be, might not be the sharpest tool in the box, decided to give him a simple test. When he answered “17” to the question of what was the sum of 6 and 15, she decided that nothing else in the relationship added up and promptly refused to go through with the wedding.

Meanwhile in China, upon seeing his wife-to-be for the first time, a man threw himself into a river in an apparent suicide attempt. He later explained that her looks fell far short of what he was expecting and that had he gone through with the wedding, she would have been bad for his image! I’m not sure that chucking himself in a river did a lot for it either!

You’ll no doubt be pleased to know that Michelle will be back tomorrow and I’ll see you on my own show next Monday.
