I was very happy to return to Phoenix FM, after having a year break, with my brand new show That Friday Feeling!
Every Friday between 6pm and 7pm I will be catching up on the week’s celebrity gossip as well as doing Friday’s Film Feature where I review a film.
Then from 7pm until 8pm I play all the tunes from the charts!
Each week I will keep this webpage up to date with all the celeb goss.
I kicked off the first show by doing a count down of the top ten best selling albums of the year so far and played a track from each album. The list can be seen below:
Top Ten Best Selling Albums of the Year
10. Bastille – Bad Blood
9. Arctic Monkeys – AM
8. London Grammar – If You Wait
7. Pharrell Williams – G.I.R.L
6. Ellie Goulding – Halcyon
5. Paloma Faith – A Perfect Contradiction
4. Paolo Nutini – Caustic Love
3. Coldplay – Ghost Stories – selling 470,000 units according to Official Charts data.
2. Sam Smith – In The Lonely Hour – selling 487,000 copies to date and failing to vacate the top 5 since its release in May.
And at number one is….
1. Ed Sheeran – X
Ed’s second studio album has been certified double Platinum and has sold over 634,000 copies since its release in June.
X spent eight weeks at the top of the albums chart and was also named the fastest-selling album when it sold 182,000 copies during its first week on sale.
These Little Things add up to 18
After writing One Directions number 1 single ‘Little Things’, Ed Sheeran has penned another song for the popular boy band entitled ‘18’.
Simon Cowell has been giving out details about the writing process and it sounds as if Simon was quite forceful about it, but seems like Ed delivered!
Behind the scenes of Britain’s Got talent Simon asked Ed “Where’s the One Direction song?” and Ed’s reply was that he didn’t know Simon wanted a song from him, but regardless a week later he went to Simon’s house with his manager one night and said, “Do you like this song?” and Simon said yes straight away!
Simon had a lot of good things to say about Ed, that he is “a real star and he did it in such a short space of time but he was so focused and he’s a brilliant songwriter,” He also expressed that what he loves about Ed is that “He’s generous. He could have kept that song but he loves writing hits.”
It’s likely this new song will feature on One Directions new album entitled ‘Four’ which will be released on 17th November 2014.
