Well what a week it’s been. Yesterday the Olympic Flame went through Brentwood and coupled with this there were numerous associated celebratory events and sideshows. Mercifully the rain even stopped for a time.
Today saw THE BRENTWOOD BEER AND MUSIC FESTIVAL at the BRENTWOOD CENTRE. I had hoped that one or two bands might make it into the studio but I fear they had sunk into the mud which was the inevitable result of the rain which unkindly returned in heavy bursts today. But we didn’t care, we still managed to enjoy a hamper bursting full of great songs.
As Frances Clamp had thoughtlessly gone on leave, yet again, I was obliged to step into her shoes with my version of the history of PILGRIMS HALL. You can listen to my efforts again, here: – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Bygones-3rd-July.mp3|titles=Bygones 3rd July]
After this I took my picnic table and set it up in the beer tent at the Brentwood Beer & Music Festival and enjoyed a veritable treat of live music. Great!
Right well I’m now drying myself out in readiness for next week’s show. This has to be the wettest drought I’ve ever known! Join me next Saturday when we’ll learn some of the secrets of the cold war from David Clark and Frances Clamp will be back with the history of Billericay’s Isolationist Hospital.
Look after yourselves and see you next week.
All the best,
Scott
