Well first things first, must just express my appreciation to Andrew Babicz for doing such a sterling job on my behalf last week.
Yes, last week I spent a couple of days away in Germany followed by a very unwelcome bout of Montezuma’s revenge, not as a result of the trip to Germany, I hasten to add!
Anyway I was delighted to be joined by not one, but two local authors today. First off PIPER TERRETT generously took time out on her way to a book signing in BILLERICAY, to pop in to talk about her new detective novel, VICTIM SUPPORT. The story is set in BILLERICAY, loosely disguised as Norsey and features Detective Inspector Sam (Samantha, that is) Cree, who having just returned to Norsey is, together with her boss, Chief Inspector Bill Irons, thrown in the deep end when twin boys go missing from a playground. Things go from bad to worse when first a student and then an elderly woman are gunned down. The race is then on to find the missing boys and the killer before there are any more incidents. Hopefully this will be the first in a series INSPECTOR SAM CREE stories.

Anyone lucky enough to have been able to get down to the COACH HOUSE at the BILLERICAY TOWN COUNCIL OFFICES this afternoon, will have been able to obtain an autographed copy of VICTIM SUPPORT at the special price of £6. Otherwise it is available from Norsey Press via Amazon at £6.99.
In the second hour I was joined LIVE by Frances Clamp who made a special unscheduled visit to talk about WEIR POND in BILLERICAY, which has long since disappeared but which used to be located behind THE RISING SUN PUBLIC HOUSE.
This week’s BYGONES FEATURE is here for you to listen again: -[audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Bygones-10th-December.mp3|titles=Bygones 10th December]
I am especially indebted to Frances, who was in some discomfort having suffered from a very nasty fall earlier this week, and had already deferred her normal scheduled appearance from Tuesday, when I was unavoidably prevented from presenting my usual “TWO O’CLOCK SHOW”. Anyway, all being well and assuming that we are all on parade, next week Frances will be telling us all about HOLLY TREE PRIMARY SCHOOL in BRENTWOOD.
Well that’s more than enough from me for now. I look forward to seeing you next week, either on Tuesday at 2pm or next Saturday at 12 Noon. If you are feeling really brave please join me for both shows. Meantime have a good week.
All the best,
Scott
