Leyton Orient fell to their third home defeat of the season, as they lost 2-1 to 10-man AFC Fylde at the Matchroom Stadium.
Danny Rowe grabbed a brilliant brace with two long range strikes one in each half to give the visitors a two-goal cushion.
Jobi McAnuff got a goal back for Orient with 15 minutes to go but could not go on and get that elusive leveller even with the dismissal of Lewis Montrose late on.
Steve Davis made three changes to his side that came from behind to get a draw away to Aldershot last weekend. New loan signing Mark Ellis was handed his debut, as David Mooney and Dan Happe both slotted back into the first eleven for Joe Widdowson (Thigh injury), Josh Coulson (Groin Injury) and Jamie Sendles-White who moved to the bench.
The visitors poached first, as Clay was intercepted and Rowe found space for a shot from outside the box but went just wide of the target.
Orient then reacted and has an opportunity for themselves, as McAnuff cut the ball into Dayton who clipped the ball across the box which Jay Lynch had to spread himself to stop.
AFC Fylde took the lead just 15 minutes in, as debutant Mark Ellis brought down Jonny Smith on the edge of the box. Rowe stepped up and fired the ball which took a slight deflection through the wall to fly into the net.
Orient started to press down the left for the equaliser and were almost rewarded as McAnuff cut the ball into Clay to find a yard and let rip which was well-stopped at the feet of Lynch.
McAnuff became creator again with a whipped in ball across the box which could not be turned in, as Lynch dived to collect to stop the cross creeping in at the far post.
The O’s again found joy down the left, as McAnuff’s cross looked to be on a plate for Macauley Bonne but his miss-timed his header went wide of the target.
In the second half, AFC Fylde doubled their lead just two minutes in as Rowe let fly after not being closed from 25-yards out and his strike crept into the top corner.
Orient had a great chance to get a foot hold back in the game, as McAnuff’s free-kick was put into a dangerous area for Ellis to head unmarked over the bar.
The hosts again pressed, as Jake Caprice played a one-two with McAnuff and whipped the ball in for Bonne who just could not keep his header down.
The O’s went even closer, as another McAnuff free-kick was met by Bonne which came back off the far post.
Orient grabbed their chance to get back into the game a minute later, as Dayton went to the by-line and clipped a cross which was headed away only for McAnuff to head in at the far post.
The O’s thought they had their equaliser, as Dayton’s ball found substitute Matt Harold to head on target by was stopped on the line by Lynch.
AFC Fylde found themselves down to 10 men in injury-time, as Lewis Montrose got a second yellow for a deliberate trip on Caprice.
Orient could not find that searching equaliser to get them a late point, as they drop further down the table to 15th.
