Who won the annual Best British Soap Award?

Soap Awards
One of the best nights in the World of Soap Opera’s took place last Saturday, The British Soap Awards. The event was presented by none other than Phillip Schofield and it took place at London’s TV centre which saw Michelle Keegan (who plays Tina in Corrie) and  Scott Maslen (Who plays Jack in Eastenders) win sexiest female and male for the 4th year in a row!
Some other winners were Danny Miller, from Emmerdale, who got Best Actor for the 2nd time, Best Actress went to Alison King from Coronation Street. Jake Wood and Jo Joiner who play Max and Tanya in Eastenders one best on screen partnership with the live time achievement award going to Pam St Clements who played Pat in Eastenders.

It seems that Eastenders, Corrie and Emmerdale were the top three students this year as eventhough there was nomination for Doctors and Hollyyoaks, none of them won. But the biggest award of the night it the Best British Soap and that went to Eastenders for the tenth time since the Awards started in 1999.

Friends Reunion?
Matt LeBlanc who played Joey Tribbianni says he doesn’t like the idea of a Friend’s reunion as the main characters, Ross, Chandeler, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe wouldn’t be in touch after all these years. He explained his point of view of the show saying  “I think that show was all about a finite amount of time in six people’s lives. They were out of college, but they hadn’t settled down with their lives yet.  Once they have moved on from that phase, that family unit has broken down a little bit. I’m sure they’d keep in touch a bit, but it wouldn’t be the same.”

The show ran for ten years, ending in 2004 and apparently each cast member was paid $1 million per episode!
It has been rumoured in the past that there might be a friends movie however once again Matt doesn’t like this idea “I think it’s a bit of a case of ‘the book is better than the movie’.

“Everyone identifies with those characters in their own way and everyone in their own mind imagines what has become of those characters. I just think it’s best to leave it at that.”

Labrinth Express Yourself!

Labrinth is doing pretty well for himself at the moment, with his debut album, Electronic Earth reaching number 2 in the charts last month, and now his 4th release from the album called Express Yourself will be available from the 3rd of June but he this week he has released some behind-the-scenes footage from the new music video for it.

Labrinith seems to favour this song and music video as he said ‘”I think I’m most excited about this one – it’s going to be cool.’

The clip shows him writing the song lyrics on a blackboard in a number of colourful outfits.
He continued to explain the video by saying that  “[the directors] are going to head over to LA and add a few more scenes. There’s going to be a couple of extra people; a dancer, a model and a few other people.”

One Hit Wonder?

Kylie Minogue’s first ever single was of course the locomotion, which came out in 1987 and over two decades later she is now  celebrating her 25th anniversary in music. However the Australia popstar is surprised about this because as she explains “I never thought I would have a 25-year singing career. When I first started singing I was acting and thought that singing would just be another string to my bow.

“Cut to actually releasing the single – I think it was seen as a kind of one-off, a novelty. I’m sure that in most people’s minds and I think even in my own I was meant to be a one-hit wonder.”

Well she definitely was not a one hit wonder has she manage to get 11 hit albums since joining the music industry after starring in Australian soap ‘Neighbours’ and has sold out areas around the world.
