I was lucky to be join in the studio by the excellent singer/songwriter Pete Hunt and his Manager Roy Tyzack.

Pete came in to talk about his music and the release of Birdie, the Doctor & Me which is to commemorate Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic
expedition which ended so tragically 100 years ago.

Pete, an established name on the local music scene for over 30 years, penned the
evocative ballad as a tribute to the brave men who paid the ultimate price in
the name of scientific exploration of the South Pole.

The track, called ‘Birdie, the Doctor & Me’ tells the story of Scott and his companions
– Lt. (Birdie) Bowers, Doctor Bill Wilson, Captain Titus Oates (The Soldier) and
Seaman (Teddy) Evans – and their ill-fated return from the South
Pole.

Pete said: “Wherever possible, I like to paint a picture with my lyrics and I hope
that this song graphically captures the mood of those tragic events.” He added –
“I recorded the song with my long standing musical collaborator, Micky Lyne and
I am very pleased with the result.”

Pete, who has performed in venues across the UK and the world can still be found playing the
local music circuit.
