Currently being filmed at various locations in the North and Midlands areas, Changing Face takes an uncompromising look at the sinister world of domestic violence and its many ugly forms behind closed doors. The film has already received waves of interest and praise for its gritty portrayals of its subject matter, following the release of its first trailer which you can see here. First up tonight I was joined in the studio by Feral Child and Tommy from Longy & the Gospel Trash. You may recall Feral Child when he accompanied Longy for his first appearance on the show back in October 2013. Since then, accompanying Longy as the Gospel Trash, the six-piece have just released a live album, Songs from the Seaside, recorded at Southend’s Railway Hotel, with a view to recording their next EP in the new year. In the meantime though, since April Longy has been on a mission to play 500 gigs in 500 different venues in a year – after playing all over London and at a few festivals, he’s on a brief tour of South Africa just before Christmas, will be back in the new year. Darrah recently followed up his debut solo single Can’t Tax the Sun with Stars, available now from download sites, and since he last joined us in June, has been putting together a live band for upcoming shows. The first of those is on December 2nd when he appears at Chinnerys in Southend supporting Asylums, and he’s back there on the 23rd, and inbetween he’ll be playing Southend Central Station on Dec 9th in aid of Avenue Child Contact Centre. Tonight I chatted to the one and only Frank Turner on the phone. Originally finding fame as frontman with Million Dead, Frank has released six solo albums since going solo in 2006, and his currently working on his seventh – but not before releasing a new compilation, Songbook, on November 24th. As well as tracks from his solo career, the compilation features new track There She Is alongside new recordings of older tracks. Having come a long way since their beginnings as Merciless Fail, Forged In Black have had a busy few months with the release of their latest EP Sinner Sanctorum and alongside gigging, have already begun work writing a full-length album for next year. First up tonight I chatted to Southampton-based wrestler Crusher Curtis, just ahead of his appearance at Brentwood Theatre for Dropkixx Wrestling. After grapples all over the UK and abroad, Crusher’s debut Brentwood appearance was against Dropkixx regular Ian Frost (whom we chatted to a few months back), and it’s safe to say Crusher had a few hard words for his opponent – click above to find out more! Next up it was the station debut of singer-songwriter Koray Aykal. Previously known as The Monster King, now performing under his own name, Koray treated us to five tracks in session & plenty of unusual stories, including playing live while blindfolded! First up tonight I was joined in the studio by Laura and Chris from Victories. Originally guests on the show back in 2013, the trio (also featuring bassist Luke) have enjoyed a resurgence recently with the addition of Laura on drums and the impending release of their new double A side single, Mandy Machine / Wiccan. The single is released at midnight on Halloween, to coincide with their spooky-themed headline gig at Chelmsford’s Bassment on the same night. Calum has just released his latest single for download, The One That Got Away, and with plans to release further singles in the coming months alongside more gigs, his is a name that’ll be heard a lot more outside the south coast very soon.
