Sports podcasting done right

Podcasts are the new radio. So, it seems for the past 10 to 15 years where radio on demand has been growing in popularity. Talking about sports is also a big part of the game as it adds a journalistic narrative to what’s happening on the pitch be it football, soccer, basketball or baseball. Here’s a list of some of the best sports podcasts and where to find them.

For the past decade or more, podcasting has increased dramatically in popularity. Just like radio, television and now streaming, it presents to us the ability to listen to our favorite voices and opinions whenever we feel like it. This goes for sports podcasts as well. On a weekly basis, journalists and experts gather around to discuss the games of last night and it has become an integral part of what we talk about when we talk about sports. Everything from transfers to betting like the NFL week 7 odds, no topic is left untouched. Here’s some of the best ones out there.

The Ringer with Bill Simmons

Bill Simmons is already a legend when it comes to sports journalism and especially basketball. With the Ringer he has created a podcasts network with a sports focus. Recently bought by Spotify in a major deal, it is living proof that you can make a decent fortune in sports podcasting. If you are curious about everything from the NBA news to a gamblers podcast, this network might just be something for you.

30 for 30 podcasts from ESPN

This is made in a documentary style adapted from the TV show of the same name. Bill Simmons contributed to this as well with his knowledge of basketball and the NBA. They also focus on stories from gymnastics, soccer and many more, so if you are hungry for more quality journalism from the brilliant world of sports these are the podcasts for you.

Men in Blazers – soccer for Americans

Soccer has always been a bit awkward in the US. Well, not anymore. These guys love to talk about soccer and they do it the American way. Since 94 soccer has had a lot of promise in America and this podcast shows us that we have come a long way since then. With a US international team on the rise this might be a sign of the times. If you weren’t a soccer fan beforehand, you will be afterwards.
