Neil explains why looking after your feet is so important

Paul Golder writes for the Brentwood Gazette

As a community radio station we always feature a lot of health news and information – the NHS were on air a great deal during the heights of the pandemic, and surgeons and consultants who operate in the NHS and also private organisations such as Nuffield’s Brentwood Hospital.

However, if there’s one thing I have learned over the last couple of weeks it’s that you shouldn’t forget your feet! Our morning presenter Michelle Ward was joined in the studio by Brentwood footcare expert Neil McAllister from Kinetic Podiatry.

Neil spoke about the importance of looking after your feet, whether you’re undertaking any long-distance walking or not, and what you can do to make them healthier and stronger.

Neil has been a great help to me with regular phone calls and messages about what I can do to toughen my feet and reduce blisters, and it seems to be working.

You can hear Neil’s interview with Michelle again at www.phoenixfm.com.

* I’m currently walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats in aid of Saint Francis Hospice! I’m just about coming up to the end of my third week, having walked over 275 miles from Land’s End, and as you read this I’m in the beautiful Welsh borders between Monmouth and Hereford. If you want to follow my journey visit www.facebook.com/lejog2022 and if you want to sponsor me you can go to www.justgiving.com/golder.
