Planning a Staycation this Summer

Making the most of summer is important, and one way that you can do this is to plan a fun-filled staycation. A staycation is fantastic because it allows you to enjoy home comforts while taking in new sights and surroundings. Nailing a staycation for your family is important. Lots of memories can be made on holiday, and to make these memories right, you have to focus your attention and efforts on several key aspects, the first of which is where you should go.

A staycation doesn’t mean you have to say at home

Sometimes a staycation can involve simply staying in your home town and exploring what there is to offer, but it can also involve travelling across the country. You are still staying in your home country, so it counts as a staycation.

So, where will your staycation take you? Will it take you to Wales for a spot of glamping, or will it take you to Cornwall for fun-filled and activity-packed days by the beach? To help you decide where to go, you might want to think about what your family loves and enjoy doing. For example, do they enjoy country walks? Do they enjoy swimming and surfing? Building a holiday and staycation around your family will ensure that everyone gets the most out of their time.

After deciding where to have your staycation, you must then start to look at finding suitable accommodation. You want to have a staycation in comfort, and you want to also ensure that your accommodation is close to amenities (especially if you are traveling with young children). If you are looking at a staycation on the coast, then you need to look at staying in a holiday cottage. Some of the holiday cottages Cornwall has, like those on offer through Cornish Gems, are ideal for families and those who wish to immerse themselves in the true beauty of Cornwall.

When it comes to finding suitable accommodation, though, you have to think about your budget, and you have to think about what is included.

Live Like a Local

To make the most out of your staycation, you want to try and live like a local where you can. Visit the pubs and bars that locals do (and get local prices), and visit the beauty spots that locals like to enjoy. Sightseeing paths are well-trodden all over Cornwall, and sometimes it is nice to get off the beaten path and enjoy the lesser-known places. Asking local residents what they like to do and see will give you a good insight into all that Cornwall has to offer.

Don’t go overboard

Staycations can be as affordable as you want them to be. Therefore, to ensure that your staycation is successful, you have to create a budget and establish your daily spending limit. When you are on holiday and having fun, you can find that costs can quickly spiral out of control. To ensure that your staycation stays affordable, you must create a budget, and you must set a daily spending limit. When you are putting together a budget, do not forget to include costs for activities, internal travel, and not forgetting, of course, the food and drink you will need throughout the staycation.
