BRENTWOOD COUNCIL UPATES – STEVE SUMMERS

This week Council updates with Steve Summers Chief Operating Officer at Brentwood Council.

Remembrance Day parade – Sunday 14 November

  • A flag raising ceremony took place at Brentwood Town Hall last Friday to mark the launch of the poppy appeal and for the run up to Remembrance Sunday.
  • The Remembrance Day parade will take place on Sunday 14 November and all residents are invited to join.
  • The parade will start from Brentwood Town Hall at 10:35am and march down Middleton Hall Lane towards the war memorial at the junction with Shenfield Road, where the laying of wreaths will take place and two minutes of silence will be observed.
  • The parade will then continue along Shenfield Road, crossing the mini roundabouts at Wilsons corner and onto a service at St Thomas’ Church.
  • The salute will be taken by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Dennis Rensch accompanied by other dignitaries including the Mayor of Brentwood Cllr Olivia Sanders and the President of Brentwood Royal British Legion Brian Kitchener.
  • The parade will contain contingents from all major uniformed services, Army, Navy and Air Force, including Essex Police, scouts, guides and relevant local charitable organisations. The parade will be headed by the Brentwood Imperial Youth band.
  • First time visitors lining the road will be able to scan a QR code to get a full programme of what is happening including tracking location and times.
  • There will be road closures around the parade route area from 10.15am as well as bus route diversions and High Street parking restrictions.
