My special guest on the show this week was former footballer Anton Ferdinand, whose career included spells in the Premier League with West Ham United, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers, plus a couple of seasons with Southend United.

Anton joined me on the phone for a chat about his new Billericay-based youth football project the Ferdinand Football Group, and we also discussed racism in football – about which he recently took part in a TV documentary – and the current (and very different) fortunes of two of his old clubs, West Ham and Southend.

The interview can be heard on the link from 00:33:20.

In EFL League Two, Southend United kept their survival hopes alive with a 2-1 win at home to Leyton Orient, whose remaining hopes of reaching the play-offs are now over, but Barrow’s subsequent win at Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night means that the Shrimpers are now all but relegated to the National League – where Dagenham & Redbridge won their third match in a row with a 3-0 win at King’s Lynn Town.
