It was a happy Boxing Day in EFL League 2 for Southend United who scored a 2-0 Essex derby win over old rivals Colchester United at Roots Hall, courtesy of first-half goals from Simeon Akinola and Timothee Dieng as their recent revival continued.
Not such a good day in the same division for Leyton Orient, who took the lead in the first half at Cambridge United through Danny Johnson. But two replies in the second period secured a 2-1 win for the hosts.
