ABOUT THE TRACK
‘Damn It, It’s 2020’, available on December 11th 2020, is a fun, lighthearted reflection upon the “new normal” many have found themselves in as a result of the 2020 pandemic and lockdown. The song pokes fun at the things that seem to have become the norm this year,
such as being unsure on the day of the week, adverse sleeping patterns, Zoom quizzes, endless baking and eye rolling at the “the men in suits”. A satirical but spirited song set against a vibrant, pop/rock sound, ‘Damn It, It’s 2020’ is a playful shrug of the shoulders and
an “oh well” to 2020.
In Roisin’s words:
Throughout this year, I have found myself listening to uplifting, electro-pop tracks with driving kickdrums and synthesisers, finding empowerment, motivation and a sense of the world being bigger than my own worries in such soundscapes. Taking inspiration from such songs,
‘Damn It, It’s 2020’ is modelled on the same sense that, although this year hasn’t been what we imagined, it’s just a 2020 thing. It’s like, yeah I was gonna do this and this with my life this year, but “damn it, it’s 2020”, so we’ll go again next year.
