So if you’re getting fed up with the shut down, we can reveal today that we’ve located a pub in England where you can still still get a drink after 10pm – legally!
But as it’s in Buckinghamshire, you’d really need to be in the area to benefit from it.
To be precise, it’s a Weatherspoon’s pub called THE HOPE AND CHAMPION, but because it’s located at Beaconsfield Services on the M40, it’s classed as an essential service due to the fact that it also sells food and drink to motorists needing a break. As the pub is technically part of the service station, it is not covered by the 10pm curfew.
A spokesperson for the establishment said, “There is a 100-bedroom hotel close to the pub and the majority of customers using the pub at night are guests staying at the hotel who want something to eat and drink.”
So whilst even MP’s are now prevented from getting an alcoholic beverage after 10pm from bars in the Houses of Parliament, you can still avail yourself of a tipple in Beaconsfield.
In the second hour we reported on a job that our very own Michelle Ward might want to apply for.
A wine company is looking for a new taste tester to help improve their offerings – and what’s more the lucky applicant will even be paid £200 per session.
Although the company already has a team of experts working hard to find some of the best wines out there, they’re looking for someone from outside the wine trade who might be able to offer a different perspective.
The job will see the lucky successful candidate being sent a case of wine three or four times a year, which they’ll be expected to try out.
After sipping and slurping their way through several different wines, the new taste tester will then be asked to provide their feedback to help the company improve the tasting notes supplied to regular customers.
To be eligible for the role role you need to be over 18 and not hold any established wine qualifications, or have one through any formal wine training.
Basically – unlike other jobs – the less experience you have, the better!
To Apply you need to submit a 150-word review of your favourite wine that costs under £10.
Applications are open now until 30 October, with the winning candidate being selected on 15 November.
Good luck!
Right I’m nipping off now for a quick drink but will hopefully see you again tomorrow,
Scott
