Sunday Breakfast Show: 2 To Soothe – August 2019

August for me was a challenging one. A plaster cast on your leg during record breaking heat is not a pleasant thing, as any of you that have suffered it will know. The feeling of having it removed was one of joy.

Despite all this, I was still on air every Sunday morning, spreading my own little bits of joy, and helping those of you just not feeling your Sunday mornings to cope a bit with the weekly 2 To Soothe.

In August you heard –

Ray Charles – You Don’t Know Me

Gary Moore – Still Got The Blues

Erma Franklin – Time After Time

Annie Lennox – No More I Love You’s

Crowded House – Nails In My Feet

Massive Attack With Tracey Thorn – Protection

David Gray – This Year’s Love

Cowboy Junkies – Sweet Jane

My chosen video features David Gray.  This Year’s Love appeared on his breakthrough album White Ladder, which despite many people assuming it was his debut was actually his 4th.  Featuring the hits Babylon, Please Forgive Me, a cover of Soft Cell’s Say Hello, Wave Goodbye, and this single, This Year’s Love which got to number 20 in 1999.  The parent album went to number one and spent over 3 consecutive years in the charts, and is currently the 26th best selling album of all time.

David is still performing and recording, and released his 11th studio album Gold In A Brass Age earlier this year.  You can find more here – https://www.davidgray.com/
