Ian Southgate, General Manager of The Brentwood Theatre came in to talk about THE BRENTS 2019 recognising local theatre group productions.

• The Brents were created 22 years ago to celebrate and champion the broad amount of performing arts happening at Brentwood Theatre, put on by non-professional groups.

• There are 18 awards adjudicated by a panel who then whittle the many shows and performers throughout the year down to just 3 or 4 nominations per award.

• The adjudicators are a dedicated group of volunteers who come to see every show and score/review them, they then meet twice a year to discuss and come to their decisions.

• There are 2 awards nominated specifically by the Brentwood Theatre community – Backstage Hero Award and Outstanding Contribution to Non-Professional Theatre.

• The evening itself sees nearly 150 members of our community come together for one glamorous evening of celebration and fun rivalry.

• The evening is made possible by the support of our sponsors, this year 13 local businesses and organisations plus of course our media partner for the evening – Phoenix FM!
