Hello,
This week I had a bunch of very talented songwriters come into the studio straight out of one of the unique collectives in the local music scene.
SoSlam was set up five years ago to promote local musicians. Along the way it has done more than this. It has nurtured a lot of young musicians in Southend region in particular, hosted events across the town, running it’s own record label (which yours truly has had music released on – which I am forever grateful). In the last two years SoSlam has run a songwriting workshop for adults. Some of which have appeared tonight.
You can hear the full show below. But here is the full list of songs played on the show. Including the live performances in bold…
Mumford and Sons – Tompkins Square Park
Drew Tobias – Escape
Ross Chaplin – Going Back Home
Pot Of Gold
The Vaccines – Nightclub
Frank Turner – Imperfect Tense
Robert Antoine – Life On The Street
Jadyn
Wolfe Sunday – Dead Benedict
Manic Street Preachers – Revol
Scott Sullivan – Julia Roberts
Actions Are Louder Than Words
Lightspeed Champions – Everyone I Know Is Listening To Crunk
John Paul Elliot – On The Stairs
Tide Will Turn
Pigeon Detectices – Keep On Your Dress
Andy Keane – Smiling Out Loud

The collective also participated in my quiz. They didn’t do amazing – scoring a lowly 16/35 – averaging out to nine points out of 20. They may a lot about writing music. Maybe not so much in regards to previous who have come before them. Here is the scoreboard…
Dom Clark Trio – 16 points
Josh Unwin – 13.5
Bled The Fifth – 9.5
SoSlam Songwriters – 9
