Arise and live!

Today we heard all about the self-proclaimed prophet, South African pastor Alph Lukau who’s got himself into a whole heap of trouble after he posted videos on line purportedly bringing a dead person back to life.

In the video Pastor Lukau spoke theatrically unto a microphone introducing supposedly family members.

He then invited the crowd to follow him in prayer, calling out Jesus’ name before waving his hands at the ‘deceased’ man.

The pastor then handed over the microphone, leant over the ‘dead’ man, and put his hand on his chest.

Suddenly the man in the coffin sat up and acting his part, looked around as though astounded by what has just occurred, to a rousing round of applause from the mourners.

But no less than three funeral companies are now suing the Pastor claiming they’d been manipulated.

Kings and Queens Funerals said in a statement: ‘We would like to distance ourselves from the supposed resurrection of a deceased man by Alleluia Ministries, allegedly at our mortuary.

‘We were approached by people claiming to be family members of the deceased, who informed us they had encountered a dispute with a different funeral service provider and wanted to use our transport services, which we provided. But we did not supply the coffin or store the “deceased” at our mortuary and we did not process any paper work.

‘As a funeral services provider we do not offer services without documentation neither do we repatriate bodies without any paper work.

‘We are in the process of taking legal action for this malicious damage to our image.’

It seems that the coffin had actually been acquired from another firm of funeral directors, Kingdom Blue whilst stickers belonging to a third firm, Black Phoenix were stuck on to a private car.

Whilst the church itself has declined to comment on criticism that it had deceived worshippers, the good pastor has maintained his position that the ‘resurrection’ was real, saying: ‘An astounding miracle took place in the House of God this morning.

‘A dead man came back to life as the church of God prayed’.

Lukau’s ‘resurrection’ sparked a social media craze as users took to the web mimicking his ‘miraculous powers’.

One joker shared a picture of himself sitting up in the bath with a look of surprise, under the caption ‘My alarm just resurrect me to wake up’!

Meanwhile closer to home came news of a woman Detective Constable from Wales, who is now facing dismissal for repeatedly breaking wind and using bad language – some of which has even been directed at members of the public.

Detective Constable Claire Fitzpatrick, who has been a serving police officer for over 20 years claims that her behaviour was part of the culture of banter at the police station.

Although admitting the flatulent outbreaks she said she would joke about it, speaking like the character Borat, or use a silly voice to say: “Rather out than in”.

She is facing no less than 25 counts of inappropriate behaviour which includes asking a junior colleague at the busy police station for thrush cream and another colleague whether he might fancy an affair with a fatter, ugly, older woman who wears glasses.

When he declined the offer she pretended to throw up, after which she went over, put her hand on his shoulder and said that she didn’t mean it, explaining that he didn’t understand her sense of humour and that she was sorry.

She denies using bullying or inappropriate behaviour and the hearing continues.

All being well and I behave myself, I’ll see you again tomorrow,
Scott
