My Summer Favourites

This summer has seen the release of lots of new music from a huge range of artists – here are a few of my favourite recent releases!

The Vamps – Night + Day (Day Edition)

Seeing as I’ve been following The Vamps since 2012, I was very excited for the release of their latest album: ‘Night + Day’, and it surely didn’t disappoint. The album includes such a range of modern concepts, from slower songs such as ‘Time Is Not On Our Side’ to upbeat tunes including ‘Cheap Wine’ and ‘What Your Father Says’. The album also interestingly embraces the individual tastes of each band member, where they have each released their own edition of the album, featuring exclusive tracks chosen by each member. I was lucky enough to attend the London album signing to get my copy, and I can’t wait to hear it performed live at The Vamps’ tour next year.

Dan + Shay – Dan + Shay

I often mention how much I enjoy Dan + Shay’s music, and the release of their latest, self-entitled album definitely lived up to my expectations. The album includes a more upbeat, jolly feel than the country-duo’s previous albums did – perfectly embracing the role of a summer album. My personal favourites include; ‘Alone Together’ and ‘Tequila’ – the latter reaching then number 1 spot on the country music charts!

Shawn Mendes -Nervous

Following the huge success of Mendes’ latest album, his newest single: ‘Nervous’ makes the perfect summer song. The single is extremely catchy – moving away from Mendes’ historic slower songs, and into a new era of modern music.

Catherine McGrath – Lost In The Middle

Catherine McGrath is an up-and-coming country-pop artist, who I was lucky enough to interview for my show a little while ago. Ahead of her album release on July 27th, McGrath’s latest single: ‘Lost In The Middle’ perfectly reflects her artist style – where the storytelling elements of country music is incorporated with the catchy beat of a pop song.

Years + Years – If You’re Over Me

Having never previously listened to music by Years + Years, I was pleasantly surprised by their latest single: ‘If You’re Over Me’, which seems to be dominating pop music at the moment. The song is very catchy and memorable, and has a feel-good factor, beaming positivity and enjoyability.
