Jimmy Carr Gives Robbie Williams Some Heavy Entertainment

It was announced this week that comedian Jimmy Carr as had a little go at song writing!
jimmy-carr
Firstly, he has co-written a track with Robbie Williams called When You Know which will feature on upcoming album Heavy Entertainment Show  as Robbie confirmed this on his Instagram.
robbie-insta-2
Secondly, Jimmy Carr has also penned a duet for Robbie and Kylie Minogue! This isn’t the first time these two have teamed up on a track but it is definitely the first time Jimmy Carr has got involved. This song will be called Disco Symphony and is likely to be released next year.

So with this breaking news, tonight’s playlist included songs that were written for or about someone else...

Song: Irreplaceable
Writer: Ne-yo
For Who: Beyonce

Could you imagine this track with a more country vibe to it? Well that’s how it was originally written by none other than Ne-yo! But then he decided to put an R&B spin on it and once Beyonce heard the demo she wanted it and made it number 1!

Song: Black Widow
Writer: Katy Perry
For Who: Iggy Azaela

Black Widow nearly ended up on Katy Perry’s album Prism as she actually wrote the track. But she decided she didn’t want to use it and gave it to Iggy Azalea.

Song: Bad Blood
Writer: Taylor Swift
About Who: Katy Perry

Taylor Swift is the queen of writing songs about other people, usually her ex’s, but Bad Blood was written about the long standing feud between her and former friend Katy Perry. It all started when apparently Perry tried to sabotage Swift’s arena tour and hire a bunch of people from Swift’s crew. Perry’s reaction to this was on Twitter writing, ‘Beware the Regina George in sheep’s clothing’. This was then the birth of Bad Blood.

Song: Fix You
Writer: Chris Martin / Coldplay
About Who: Gwyneth Paltrow

When Chris Martin and actress Gwyneth Paltrow were together the song Fix You was written as a dedication to her when sadly her father passed away.

Song: All of Me
Writer: John Legend
About Who: Chrissy Teigen

John Legend wrote this track for his wife Chrissy Teigen who may be better known for co presenting Lip Sync Battle in the USA.

Song: Give It To Me
Writer: Timbaland / Justin Timberlake / Nelly Furtado
About Who: Scott Storch / Prince / Fergie

Give It To Me is produced by Timbaland and co written/features Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. It is basically a song full of personal digs from each singer. Timbaland aims his verse at fellow producer Scott Storch who he had some issues with over production claims on JT’s Cry Me a River, JT’s verse is about Prince, who made a dig at his track Sexy Back and Furatdo’s bit is reportedly about Fergie’s feud over song lyrics – though apparently she has denied this.

Song: Till the World Ends
Writer: Kesha
For Who: Britney Spears

Kesha had influence on Britney Spears’ Femma Fatle album as she co wrote Till the World Ends. Kesha was very proud of her work saying that she’s “never been more proud of anything in [her] career,”.

Song: Holla Back Girl
Writer: Gwen Stefani
About Who: Courtney Love

The inspiration for this song came from a comment singer Courtney Love made about Gwen Stefani in a magazine interview – calling her a high school cheerleader. Gwen Stefani admitted she had never been a cheerleader but showed she could be a very good one if she wanted to!

Song: Disturbia
Writer: Chris Brown
For Who: Rihanna

One of Rihanna’s many number 1 hit’s Disturbia was actually written by her then partner Chris Brown, a year before he assaulted her.

Song: Party in the USA
Writer: Jessie J
For Who: Miley Cyrus

Jessie J is one for writing tracks for other people including Miley Cyrus – her debut mainstream hit Party in the USA was co written by Jessie J, who hoped to use it herself. In the end she didn’t but gained from the track, as apparently the royalties helped her pay her rent!

Song: Marilyn Monroe
Writer: Pharrell Williams
About Who: Marilyn Monroe

This one is quite an obvious one! In the track Pharrell Williams sings about some famous females including Egyptian Queen Cleopatra and French heroine Joan of Arc. However he is actually saying when looking for a girl he wants something different to these type of girls!
